I am writing this newsletter to you while my brain unrots in Canadian cottage country, basically the Hamptons of Canada. We spent Courtney’s birthday here and overdosed on all the Canadian favorites: Canadian bacon, maple syrup, and Sun Chips. It was hilarious to see his face when his birthday cake arrived covered in Smarties, a Canadian classic, which are chocolate covered candies and very different from the sour, tart Smarties Americans are used to. Plus I got to visit some of my favorite spots in Muskoka (like Port Sanfield, Tulos, and Crossroads) and discover new ones like The Hut. There is nothing like lake life.

We fully leaned into the exchange rate, so when we got our buccal fat massages, the natural facelift treatment, and paid $200 Canadian, it only showed up as approximately ~$144 USD on our credit card statement. A win.

It was a really good chance to put my phone away and get out of LA life, until we ran into a few people we knew from LA and what was supposed to be a vacation quietly turned into a business trip. A few business lunches later, the expensing will match accordingly. Just remember, solopreneurs, creators, entrepreneurs, or those with holding companies, never take vacations, it’s always a business trip.
